Current Status
Preliminary park planning began in December 2007. The county mailed out the first newsletter and comment form to neighbors living within a half mile of the park in April 2008. A summary of these comments is now available under the "Public Participation" section of this Web page.
A public meeting to review and provide input on several proposed concept plans for the park will likely occur in June. An invitation postcard will be mailed to park neighbors about two weeks in advance of the meeting.
Construction is scheduled to begin by 2012. The county may be able to start construction earlier if funding allows.

Project Description
This 12-acre park is located on the east side of NE St. Johns Road between NE Petticoat Lane on the south and NE 39th Street on the north. The existing undeveloped park property features a heavily forested canyon area along the west side of the property and open fields on the east side. A small creek also runs through the property on the west side.
The development plans for this park will focus on approximately five acres on the east side of the property, leaving the natural forested areas on the west side undisturbed.
The park's name is a placeholder the county uses for identification of the site and may be changed if neighbors wish. It referrs to the farm that used to be at this site, which was known as "the Bosco Farm."
Public Participation
Major decisions about what the park will look like and what types of features it will have in it will be made during the planning and design process. Project staff relies on public participation to help guide this process. Your input helps us:
- Understand and respond to the needs and concerns of your neighborhood.
- Understand which park features are most important to you and your neighbors.
- Learn about the potential for community fundraising to add features to the park.
In April 2008, the county mailed out the first newsletter and comment form to people living within a half-mile of the park to find out what they'd like to see in their park.
Responses to the comment form will be used to help develop two or three proposed concepts showing different ways the park might be developed. A public meeting will then be held to hear what neighbors like and dislike about each concept. Neighbors unable to attend the public meeting also will be able to provide feedback through this Web page.
The project team will then develop a proposed plan for the park based on public comments, the project budget and site requirements. A newsletter will describe the plan and ask for additional comments before it is presented to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission for approval.
Project Schedule
Late fall 2007-summer 2008: Planning and preliminary design phase; public feedback obtained; preferred concept plan developed.
Summer/fall 2008: Proposed concept plan presented to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission for approval; planning phase ends; final design and permitting phase begins.
Fall 2008-spring 2009: Design and permitting phase substantially completed
2012: Construction scheduled to begin. If funding allows, the county might be able to start construction sooner.
Project Funding
Design and construction of Bosco Place Neighborhood Park is funded by park impact fees, which are paid whenever a new residential property is developed, and the real estate excise tax, which is paid whenever property is sold. Maintenance of the park will be funded by the Greater Clark Parks District, a special district approved by voters in the unincorporated urban area of Clark County in 2005.
